Swaraj Bhavan is the earlier of the two Nehru houses. Motilal Nehru donated it to the Indian National Congress in 1930, at which point it was renamed and turned over to the movement.

The displays run to photographs, documents and objects from the freedom struggle, including a charkha associated with Gandhi. The building is more spare than Anand Bhavan and reads more as an institution than a home, which is precisely what it became.

It sits within walking distance of Anand Bhavan, and the two are usually seen together.
