Minto Park

A riverside park where Queen Victoria's proclamation transferring India to the Crown was read in 1858.

Minto Park stands on the Yamuna bank and marks the place where, on 1 November 1858, Lord Canning read Queen Victoria's proclamation transferring the government of India from the East India Company to the Crown.

A memorial column stands on the spot, topped by a four-lion capital. The park is also known as Madan Mohan Malaviya Park.

It is quiet, and the position above the river makes it a reasonable stop between the fort and Kydganj.
