Nagvasuki sits on the Ganga bank at Daraganj and is dedicated to Vasuki, the serpent king of the churning of the ocean. It is built in a north Indian idiom and is modest in scale.

On Nag Panchami the temple becomes the centre of the observance in the city and the lanes around it fill completely.

Daraganj itself is worth the walk — a dense riverside neighbourhood of old houses and ghats that gives a better sense of the pre-colonial city than Civil Lines does.
