The Ghantaghar was built in 1913 and stands in the middle of the old city's market area. Everything in Chowk is described in relation to it.

Architecturally it is a modest tower with Mughal-derived detailing. Its interest is less the building than the place: the markets around it are the commercial heart of the older city and are worth an hour on foot.
