This is held to be the site of the ashram of the sage Bharadwaja, where Rama, Sita and Lakshmana are described as halting on their way into exile.

The complex holds a Shiva temple and a considerable number of old sculptures gathered on the site, some of them significantly earlier than the present structures.

It sits in Colonelganj, in the middle of the city rather than out on the riverbank, which surprises visitors expecting something remote.
