Akshayavat is a banyan held to be imperishable — the name means the undying tree. It stands within the Allahabad Fort precinct, adjoining the subterranean Patalpuri temple.

The tree appears in travellers' accounts of Prayag going back a long way, and pilgrims have sought it out for as long as the confluence itself has drawn them.

Access depends on the fort's arrangements, which are controlled by the army and vary. It has generally been opened around the mela seasons.
